Manual Physical Therapy Versus Chiropractic … How Are They Different?

Manual Physical Therapy Versus Chiropractic … How Are They Different?
You are having issues with your back and friends have suggested going to a chiropractor. Your doctor suggests physical therapy. So which is the best choice?

They are both similar, but there are definite differences between them. Both are often used to correct and treat various physical ailments, from back pain and joint pain to migraine headaches.

Chiropractic care requires continuous support, meaning you have to keep going back for relief. Physical therapy helps to not only treat the problem, but also to prevent your problems from happening again.

More comprehensive treatment

Physical therapy is a more comprehensive treatment that helps to put you back to where you were before the injury occurred. It doesn’t just address the pain but works on helping you to regain the abilities you had prior to injury. It can also reduce the amount of chronic pain.

Smaller focus

Chiropractic care has a smaller focus on the nervous system, skeletal system, and the muscles in the body that enable movement. It is mostly centered around the spine whether your issue is spinal or not. So a chiropractor will adjust your spine if you have an ankle injury.

Physical therapists have a larger knowledge base about the body and techniques used to treat it, including acupuncture, acupressure, and physiotherapy exercises that stabilize your core.

Therapists are trained to put an emphasis on comprehensive therapeutic techniques that will make your body stronger and healthier. Physical therapists are educated to know more about the way the body works and treat it. Unfortunately chiropractors aren’t.
